Basic stitch tutorial part 2

Basic stitch tutorial part 2

Hey guys,

A few weeks ago we went over some basic crochet stitches, we did the slip knot, chain and single crochet. I hope you all got some practice in with those! Today we will be doing the other 3 basic stitches

  1. Slip stitch (sl)
  2. Half double crochet (hdc)
  3. Double crochet (dc)

The slip stitch (sl) is mostly used to join when you are working in the round (working in a circle) but some blanket patterns call for a slip stitch like on my c2c blanket.

What you will do is insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook. See pics below.

Half double crochet (hdc)- Yarn over, insert hook in 3rd chain from hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, you should have 3 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. Continue in each chain till the end. Chain 1 at the end of each row before turning. See pics below.

Double crochet (dc)- Yarn over, insert hook in 4th chain from hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, you should have 3 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Continue in each chain across and with a double crochet you chain 2 at the end of each row before turning. See pics below.

Those are the basic stitches! Want to learn how to crochet is my first tutorial if you missed it!! I hope these are helpful and easy to understand.

Now go out there and find yourself a beginners pattern and see what you can create, I would love to see your work, leave a comment with what you are working on or if you have any questions! Good day! šŸ˜
